Stories for Listening Tests

These are the stories used for the listening tests. The students have to listen to the teacher reading the short story and then answer the comprehension questions. Click here for the spelling tests.

PRIMARY 1

Listening Test – Unit 01

Kate is a girl. She is seven years old. She lives in Paknam. She has three cats and four dogs. The cats are brown and white. The dogs are black.

Listening Test – Unit 02

My name is Scott. I am a student in Primary 1. My teacher’s name is Miss White. I go to school by car. I go home by bus. There are 37 students in my class.

Listening Test – Unit 03

Jack and Jill are brother and sister. Jack is a boy and he likes pizza. Jill is a girl and she likes pancakes. Jack doesn’t like pasta. Jill doesn’t like hamburgers. No-one likes bananas.

Listening Test – Unit 04

Jack is seven years old. He is fat and short. His father is a teacher. His mother is a doctor. He has three dogs. At the weekend he likes to play football.

PRIMARY 2

Listening Test – Unit 01

My name is Eric. I am a teacher. This is my classroom. I have 30 students. On my desk there is a notebook, two pencils and a calendar. There is a clock on the wall. The time is 3 o’clock.

Listening Test – Unit 02

My name is Jamie. Today is my birthday. I am eight years old. I am very happy. My father gave me a music player. My mother gave me a wallet. My brother gave me a comic book. Tonight we will have a party.

Listening Test – Unit 03

My name is Charlie. My favorite lesson at school is P.E. I don’t like Math. I can do a cartwheel and a somersault. I cannot do magic tricks. Tomorrow I will climb a tree with my friends.

Listening Test – Unit 04

Jason is at school. He is sick. His mother will come to school and take him to the hospital. His mother is a doctor. His father is a nurse. When Jason grows up, he wants to be a dentist.

PRIMARY 3

Listening Test – Unit 01

I go to school with my father. We go to school by car. The car is blue. At the end of the day, I go home with my mother. We go home by taxi. The taxi is pink. My favorite color is green. I don’t like pink.

Listening Test – Unit 02

Today it is very hot. I am wearing a blue t-shirt and brown shorts. My sister is wearing a yellow blouse and a pink skirt. We are going to a birthday party. It is not going to rain.

Listening Test – Unit 03

I live in a house on Green Road. My house is between the clinic and the bakery. My house is opposite Big C. My house is near a factory. My father works in the factory. My mother works in the clinic.

Listening Test – Unit 04

Yesterday, I went to the zoo with my father and two brothers. We went there by bus. In the morning we saw the elephants and the giraffes. In the afternoon, we saw the pandas. We had fun at the zoo.

PRIMARY 4

Listening Test – Unit 01

On Saturday, Emma is going to Chiang Mai with her family. Her father will drive the car. It will take about nine hours. Emma will sleep or listen to music in the car. The weather will be hot and sunny. It won’t rain.

Listening Test – Unit 02

James is not sure what he wants to be when he grows up. He likes taking pictures and travelling and so he thinks he wants to be a photographer or a tour guide. His father is a scientist and his mother is a doctor. They want him to be a doctor.

Listening Test – Unit 03

Yesterday it was Michael’s birthday. His father took him to Dream World with three friends. They stayed there all day. In the evening, he had a birthday party with his family. His father gave him a computer. His mother gave him a watch.

Listening Test – Unit 04

Jack and James are brothers. They are students. Their favorite subject at school is English. They like their teacher. Jack also likes Math. James likes Science. Jack doesn’t like History. James doesn’t like Music.

Listening Test – Unit 05

Tomorrow, Jane and Mary are going to Dream World with their parents. Jane has been there three times but this is Mary’s first time. They will go on the roller coaster. Jane is really excited. Mary is worried.

Listening Test – Unit 06

On Saturday, we are having a party for my mother. She is 50 years old on Friday. My grandparents will come to the party. My grandmother is 75 years old and my grandfather is 80 years old. My aunt will also come. She is my mother’s sister. They are twins.

Listening Test – Unit 07

Simon and David are best friends. Last year they went backpacking in Australia. They were there for two weeks. This weekend they will go horseback riding in Vietnam. They will be there for two days. Next weekend they will play ice hockey in South Korea.

Listening Test – Unit 08

Andy wants to play football with Paul but he isn’t feeling very well. He is in bed at home. He has a sore throat and a cough. He doesn’t have a fever. Tomorrow, if he has a fever, his mother will take him to the doctor. Andy goes to the park alone.
